Descripción general / Responsabilidades: Wood is currently recruiting an Intern for Heat Transfer Solutions department in our Madrid office. Wood is looking for students interested in accessing the professional world through external academic internships and offers the possibility to put into practice and expand the knowledge acquired during their academic career.

Students will get the opportunity to enter in the Power Plants industry projects.

The role is offered to fit in students of last academic year with limited pending course obligations.

The selected candidate(s) will cooperate assisting and directly performing – under the mentorship of senior colleagues – specific tasks as follows:

• Perform Thermal calculations for Heat Exchangers, Steam Surface Condensers and Feedwater Heaters
• Perform mechanical calculations like foundation loads calculations, steel structure calculations, enclosures, bolted joints, etc under supervision
• Prepare calculation reports, steel structures and foundations
• Prepare contract specifications for subcontracting
• Perform, check and comment of detail drawings together with the drafter under supervision.
• Carrying out project engineering tasks, material requisitions, technical tabulations, packing list, quantity control, etc
• Suggest improvements for the development of the project
• Check engineering documents and drawings, identification of required resources and progress reporting under Senior Engineer Supervision
• Perform Pressure parts (tubes, headers, tanks..etc) mechanical calculation under Senior Engineer Supervision
• Pipe support design under Senior Engineer Supervision
• Ensure that deliverables are produced to time, cost and quality in accordance with the project schedule.
• Maintain a strong work ethic and understand team dynamics and adjust behavior to gain maximum advantage
• Understand workshare elements and how to divide work-scopes

Habilidades / Cualificación:

• Last academic year or masters degree in Chemical/Industrial/Mining Engineering l Engineering / Construction or Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Spanish language at native level
• Excellent command of English
• Microsoft Office proficient, including strong proficiency in Excel.
• Academic situation that allows signing an agreement with a university or training center
• Availability in the morning (daily dedication depending on the academic situation)
• Able to manage own time and ability to prioritize at busy times
• Creative and practical
• Adaptable and persevering
• Interested in pursuing a career within engineering
• Work well with other people
• Good communication skills within a team and externally
• Development experiences and challenges.
• Motivated in bringing new perspectives and injecting fresh ideas into our department processes
• Last academic year or masters degree in Chemical/Industrial/Mining Engineering or similar degree.
