MISSION
The digitalization of EDPR enhance strategically the achievement of our business targets. In this framework, Geographic Information System (GIS) plays a key role supporting development and expansion of the renewable energy sector.
GIS System Engineer at EDPR, will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and testing GIS Global software solutions and will have the unique opportunity to shape EDPR GIS Global software ecosystem from the ground up o based on existing solutions. GIS System Engineer will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure project alignment with business needs. Your expertise will guide the software development lifecycle, from inception to successful delivery in close collaboration with the DGU (Digital Transformation Unit).
This position reports directly to the GIS System Manager.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- GIS Technical skills: Setting high standards for code quality, design, and best practices.
- Design and architect software solutions utilizing external APIs, Postgres with PostGIS, Experience Builder while handling high amounts of data.
- Code Reviews and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, identifying potential improvements, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize Global GIS software performance through in-depth analysis, profiling, and fine-tuning of critical components.
- Develop (or supervise) high-quality, well-documented, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and utilizing unit testing.
- 1st and 2nd level Global GIS incident resolution.
- Collaborate in RFPs for the contracting of GIS Global services to third parties.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for Global GIS
- Collaborate with DGU/ESRI in support of technical tasks related to GIS Global system administration, DB management, infrastructure management and licensing.
- Manage external development/maintenance and incidents vendors for Global GIS.
- Manage the Global GIS software development lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on track and following high quality standards.
- Innovation and Research: Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, identifying and introducing innovative solutions to enhance product (ArcGIS) performance and capabilities.
- Company Policy and Legal Compliance: Understand and comply with company policies, processes, and procedures.
- EDPR Institutional representation: Represent EDPR with relevant stakeholders, such as agencies and institutions, both public and private, in relation to matters relating to its responsibility to reinforce EDPR reputation and competency in the market and benefit the interests of EDPR.
REQUIRED PROFILE
1. ACADEMIC LEVEL
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Master Geography, Bio- or Civil Engineer, Master Computer Science, Industrial Engineer or related area.
- Master’s degree and/or certification in GIS and/or ESRI.
2. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- 2 - 5 years as GIS Engineer in international projects.
- Excellent development, user-centric skills and Agile Best Practices and methodology.
- Excellent in the use of ESRI Platform (AGOL, ArcGIS Enterprise, API JS Esri, ArcPy, ArcGIS Pro).
- IT Technical profile - Knowledge about SQL, Python, FME, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, .NET
- Experience in JS frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.
- Experience in the use of Geospatial libraries.
- Experience in Renewable Energies.
3. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
- ESRI certification.
- Agile and/or Design Thinking method knowledge.
- Knowledge in software development “best practices”.
4. LANGUAGES
- English B2-C1.
- Another language would be a plus, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, etc.

- Proven working experience in international projects.
- Strong technical capacities in software development.
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills: develop productive and collaborative relationships with process stakeholders.
- Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.

- Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed (up to 30%).
