Our client is a global science-based specialty chemicals business creating innovative chemistry and solutions. They are now looking for a Logistics Manager who is a native German speaker, to join their team in Barcelona and drive the operational logistics excellence for the business unit.

- Strong relationships with service providers resulting in excellent quality service to both internal and external customers.
- Ownership of the overall operational logistics (transportation and warehousing)
- Responsibility for freight costs maintenance in SAP
- Optimize the supply chain cost with container consolidation and shipment proposal with max. loading efficiency.
- Oversees correct payment of carriers and warehouses.
- Effectively communicates with carriers; ensures capacity and constantly monitors service standards.
- Review of logistics solutions for existing and new product routes with risk identification and mitigation.
- Process deliveries and organize shipments to support both In- and Outbound logistics teams in case needed.
- Review and analyze KPI’s to better understand performance and service level.
- Resolve the conflict with the key stakeholders (including regular review of transportation network reliability).
- Managing customer and vendor complaints related to logistics and warehousing for root cause analysis and implementation of correct measurements.
- Maintenance of our EDI interfaces for automated processes (service providers)
- Maintenance of supplier and material master data within the area of responsibility
- First escalation level for inbound & outbound logistics teams
- Troubleshooter for any kind of operational issues in terms of logistics and warehousing that teams can’t solve
- On- and of hire of rolling stock such as tank containers or rail tank wagons
- Claim handling with the transport insurance company.
- Support standard audit requests.
- Certificate of Proficiency in Freight Forwarding
- Native level of German and fluent English
- 8+ years of experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) and Master Data (MM) module
- Broad knowledge and experience in freight logistics throughout all modes of transport
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to interface with various levels of management
- Capacity to influence both supply chain and functional leaders to support inventory management/ strategy recommendations
- Excellent analytical skills, ability to powerfully portray data, and leverage to drive continuous improvement
